Old North Forty
One afternoon I was driving down a dusty dirt road just west of Albany, MO when I happened on this beautiful old fence post surrounded by thistles in full bloom. I just had to stop, jump out of the truck and snap some photos before the light changed. And here it is!

Pond in Spring
There are several farm ponds on our property and this spring, everything seemed to come alive at once. This joyful painting is an interpretation of that beautiful morning and that beautiful pond. Platte River Flats
Just south of Rochester Falls MO, the Platte River widens out. Over time, the slowing waters have left these beautiful sand bars that channel the water into several smaller canals that merge again just before the highway bridge.

The Long Cast
Rochester Falls is just north of St. Joseph, MO. The Platte River takes a lazy bend and meets a rock plate and forms the Falls, a popular spot for fishing, camping and canoeing.
The water is 3-6 ft deep through here except for a deep hole on the far side - just below where that sinking fly is about to land.
